Application overview
JupyterLab runs on Jupyter Server and supports multiple installation methods. Remote and shared deployments require appropriate authentication, network access controls, and server security settings.
Typical use cases
Interactive notebooks and development workflows on local systems or managed compute environments.
HPC compatibility
Compatibility details shown here reflect administrator-maintained project information. Review the upstream release documentation against your exact operating system, drivers, accelerator, MPI stack, and cluster policy before deployment.
GPU compatibility is not specified in this directory record.
Installation instructions
Commands are project-specific notes. Confirm prerequisites and linked upstream instructions for your own release and system. Do not run administrative commands without review.
Install and launch JupyterLab
Prerequisites: Python 3 and venv; secure network configuration for remote servers
python -m venv .venv
# Linux / macOS: source .venv/bin/activate
# Windows PowerShell: .venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1
python -m pip install jupyterlab
jupyter lab --versionInstalls JupyterLab into the active environment and prints its version. Launch `jupyter lab` from a trusted working directory.
Verify: jupyter lab --version
Review: For shared or remote use, configure authentication and network protections. Do not expose an unauthenticated notebook server to the public internet.
