Application overview
Transformers is a model framework and runtime library, not a model checkpoint. Specific weights are hosted separately and may have distinct licenses, hardware requirements, and access restrictions.
Typical use cases
Load and use supported model architectures with separately selected model weights.
HPC compatibility
Compatibility details shown here reflect administrator-maintained project information. Review the upstream release documentation against your exact operating system, drivers, accelerator, MPI stack, and cluster policy before deployment.
GPU compatibility is not specified in this directory record.
Installation instructions
Commands are project-specific notes. Confirm prerequisites and linked upstream instructions for your own release and system. Do not run administrative commands without review.
Install Transformers
Prerequisites: Python and venv; install a compatible backend such as PyTorch separately for model execution
python -m venv .venv
# Linux / macOS: source .venv/bin/activate
# Windows PowerShell: .venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1
python -m pip install --upgrade pip
python -m pip install transformers
python -c "import transformers; print(transformers.__version__)"Installs the Transformers package without downloading any model weights.
Verify: python -c "import transformers; print(transformers.__version__)"
Review: Inference needs a separately installed backend and an appropriate model. Model weights may require accepting terms, login, network access, and substantial disk/GPU resources.
